Last year, I participated in a Short film making competition
at the World Green Building Week celebrations at my MBA school RICS SBE, Amity
University. I saw some mockumentary videos on youtube and instantly had the
idea of making one. I wrote the script, got my roommates to act in the video,
scouted a suitable outdoor location, shot the video (with so many retakes!),
edited and published the video, ALL WITHIN 24 HOURS!! It was tiring work but we
enjoyed a lot and in the end it paid us well in the form of winning the First
Prize in the competition! It was a great learning experience for me about film
making as well as on the topic of Sustainability.
Little bit about the video: A mockumentary is basically a
film which takes the form of a serious documentary in order to satirize its
subject. In this video, I took up the problem that is created by plastic in our
day to day life and gave it a little twist by personifying the plastic as a
troubled community. In this video, you will find some plastic community members
staging a protest against the Humans. What exactly are their demands? We sent
our reporter at the protest site to find out about it. See the action here..
The
end is a little cataclysmic but I wanted to drive the message that Plastics are
a great threat to our environment and if not tackled soon, the end as predicted
in the video is not far enough!
